Minneapolis

Sunday, June 18

Like San Diego and Denver, Minneapolis is a venue without a tape, but from the logistics of this visit alone - a brief stopover on a flight from Denver to Chicago - one could reasonably postulate that the Stones probably just ran through the usual repertoire to get out of the prairie and into the Playboy Mansion without delay.  Gladly, the multiple reviews available here provide an almost complete concert reconstruction, mentioning 13 of the presumed 15 songs and indicating there was no encore.  Throw in the Happy cite from STP and we are just one song away from the blueprint set.

STP: “Jagger wears a purple rhinestone jumpsuit with a pink and purple cummerbund wrapped around his middle. He’s got white shoes with red and blue tassels and little bells that ring-tinkle-jangle when he jumps.”

Minnesota Daily: “Mick Taylor is smiling and relaxed in a spangled version of the tongue t-shirt that will make anybody who paid $4 for the silk-screened model want his money back.”

Take Over: “The Stones closed with Street Fightin’ Man & kicked out what few jams remained...People freaked then cause they quit & couldn’t do an encore as the building was filling with tear gas.”

Minneapolis Star: “Well, Jagger was predictably awesome if incomprehensible. So was the money split for two hours of rock – about $62,000 for the Stones, about $15,000 for the promoter, $8,000 for the building owners, $4,000 for Bloomington and $5,000 for the state.”
